ok im engaged and i really want my weddin on aug. 7th 2010.. so next summer. i wanted it in a church or building atleast cause if its bad weather, i dont wanna be stuck in the rain. BUT im kinda liking the idea of outdors wedding. my wedding is gunna be kinda simple yet elegant. im on a cheap money budget too. im not a big over doer either, so simple is my game. im wondering if anyone knows of good cheap places to rent that have nice scenery or a nice chapel or something. i contacted a church i wanted but they said you have to be a member and we arent members of that church. so ya. i live in wyoming MI so anywhere near here around Grand Rapids area would be great. plz send links or the name of the places. i really wanna set the date so i can be a lil less stressed. thanks =]

Have you looked into the Frederick Meijer Gardens? They would make a gorgeous wedding site:

You could also look at the University Club:

The Apple Blossom Chapel also looked nice but it’s in Fennville:

Castle Farms in Charlevoix is breathtaking:

Or try the Grand Rapids Public Museum for a unique venue:

If you need a lot of room, the Devos Place is an option:

If the John Ball Park has a private room, that might be an option as well:

If you would rather reserve a public park:

I’m sure there’s TONS of stuff in Grand Rapids. TheKnot.com has a search function where you can search for venues in different cities, but I’ve found most of those places are out of my budget. I am going for a garden wedding (in Ann Arbor, Michigan), if I can get one where I can put up a tent if necessary that would be PERFECT, if not I will have to incorporate umbrellas into my theme somehow, I’m not sure what we’ll do yet. In August in Michigan we’re usually still in drought from July so I wouldn’t worry TOO much about it, especially early August. For us the garden is worth the risk because it’s cheap and already decorated. For the reception we just want to rent a hall in one of the city parks, or do it in my grandma’s backyard, we’re still working on it.

We are blessed to live in such a beautiful state, because there are MANY awesome outdoor venues, including beaches, and all kinds of bed and breakfasts and hotels because of all the natural beauty. I’m sure if you get looking you’ll find something you love. Why not ask around your married friends and relatives and see where they got married? Might spark some ideas.
