If you want elegant I would say simple is best! Perhaps only a few blooms, instead of an elaborate bouquet.
WHite roses are pretty and go with everything. Tie them with a blue satin ribbon.

White roses are timeless, classy and elegant and they’re not terribly expensive…
Take a look at this link… beautiful!
This is what my bouquet will look like.

Lucky you having an inexpensive flower for your favorite! How about something like this for the center pieces.
Just use blue and white carnations instead.
This site has some gorgeous carnation bouquets.:&tbnh=132&tbnw=135&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcarnation%2Bbouquets%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DX
The bouquet on the bottom left appears to be all white carnations and is beautiful. You could wrap it in a pale blue silk ribbon.
Good luck and Congrats!

You can do carnations without them looking cheap. The more you have, the larger and more plush the bouquet, the nicer the carnations will look.

I agree with the white roses, and you can have them tied with baby blue ribbon.
Since carnations are your favorite I am sure your florist can use white and baby blue carnations as decorations either at the church, or you can use them in your centerpieces, but I would stick with classic roses for you bouquet!

For you how about a cluster of white roses with white mini carnations in the center and a collar of blue hydrangea….and for the girls….kissing balls made of carnations with a few hydrangea blooms scattered throughout…..

Hydrangeas would be lovely! You can find them in a pretty baby blue too and they make a really nice full bouquet :&tbnh=119&tbnw=119&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dblue%2Bhydrangea%2Bbouquet%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4ADBF_enUS243US265%26sa%3DNld

Carnations are my favourites too.
Sprayed carnations are lovely. They last the day without wilting and smell heavenly.
Bouquets with white and sprayed blue carnations would be beautiful. You could toss in a few white or light pink roses if you wanted some variety.

i know your colors are baby blue and white..which are beautiful for an outdoor wedding. i dont know if you are open to other colors for your bouquet but i am all for adding a splash of color w/ flowers so that in pictures they really STAND OUT! how about a splash of pink since baby blue and white are very light colors..like this..
or pink with white..
or pastel pinks..
or..if you really want to stick w/ just the blue and white…how about those colors w/ lime green?
hope this helps!

simple and elegant? use white carnations, lots of them. packed together in a bouquet they will look very full, very pretty and won’t be very expensive. you can use blue ribbons to either hand tie your bouquet or just tuck in amongst the flowers. honestly – you don’t have to go to a more expensive flower at all!
go to your local craft store, Michael’s is great if you have one near you, and look at the silk carnations. you will see as you put them together how they fill out so nicely and look very pretty. i’m not suggesting you buy silk ones, but they will give you an idea how your flowers will look. if you would buy silk you would be able to make your own bouquets and it will cost you even less! [they are dead easy to make sweetie] they have everything there that you would need, and generally they are very helpful!
if you want color in your fresh carnations, don’t spray them, just add a little drop of food coloring to the carnation’s water and they will change colors and look very pretty.
good luck sweetie and happy wedding!

You can get silk flower bouquets for a lot less without looking cheap.

If your favourite flower is a carnation then i do not see any problem with including them in your flowers. If you think that a bouquet of carnations might look cheap then you could include them in another way or only use a few.
For example you could have a bouquet of blue hydrangeas with white carnations scattered through or you could have a bouquet of roses in any colour and use carnations in the mens buttonholes and the corsages.
You could also mix carnations with roses, orchids, lissianthus, or a lot of greenery. Have a look at some flowers you like or ask a florist for a suggestion for a flower that could easily be matched with a carnation.
Another idea would be to have a pure white bouquet tied in blue ribbon and pure white carnation corsages and buttonholes.

I really like carnations too, and had lots in my bouquet – along with other mixed flowers. We used mini carn sprays for boutonnieres, too.
I love both the carnation bridal bouquet – first row – and posy, second row, on this site – picture them in white with some baby blue; they’d be lovely.
