My BF and I have decided to get married. We have been together for 16 years and have 2 children together, ages 11 and 8. We have a very limited budget since I am in school full time.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how we could do this as cheap as possibe? How much does it cost to get married at the court house? or any vacation wedding ideas?
I’m open to any ideas!!
Thanks

Well you could always elope?
thats the honey moon and ceremony in one.
Where are you located in the world?
If you are wanting a beautiful dress go to its a wholesaler that makes bridal dresses for approx $200 incl shipping worldwide! they are brilliant i have brought my own dress from them as well as 3 bmaid dresses.
Depends really if you want something big or small

Honey go to the court house. Price is different in every county so call and find out it the cheapest way with two kids the wedding vacation is long gone, why not a family vacation when your married 25 yrs. then you earn your wedding honeymoon shacking up isn’t the way why did you wait 16 yrs to get married?

I am not a fan of the court house wedding. I would prefer to hire an officiant and get married in a relatives backyard or even a park. You could make something beautiful and outdoors on a very small budget. You just need to be creative. Good luck hun

My hubby and I married in July of 2007, The only cost we had was the marriage lic. which was $80, my dress about $100, the cake(full sheet cake) about $20 and that was pretty much it. If you want a photographer it may be more, my aunt did mine as a gift to us.
I had an outside wedding at my dad’s house so that was free.
I will be happy to share pics with you of my wedding so you have an idea of all I’m talking about.

ok to my mind its a bit late for the big white wedding and you don’t want to go over your budget by much so i say talk to your minister – he can marry you in the church with just the two of you and your kids there if you want! our cousin did just that – their pastor married them at the alter with their assorted children present – no one else – it was a sweet way to pledge their love for each other.
so why not put on your prettiest dress, throw your man in sports coat and dress pants, pick up a little nosegay of flowers and have your minister marry you? if not then the j.p. can do it. all it will cost you is his fee, your marriage license and a couple of gold bands. you can purchase nice gold wedding bands very reasonable – sears, target, any dept. store and most everyone is having sales right now!
once you’re married why not take the kids and go out for a nice family dinner! wishing you the best in life! merry christmas!

Why get married now? (out of curiosity) I mean 16 years and 2 kids later…. why even bother?
It’s a different $ from county to county. In my county it costs $100 but I live in a small southern county smack dab in the bible belt. I’m sure it’d be different in New York. You could have small backyard ceremony with close family and friends. With a small cake and maybe a bar-b-q style reception. You can get a formal dress for less then 150. Decorations are natural since it’s outside. Or add a few potted plants in decorative pots and a little bit of tulle in various places. Park weddings are cheaper then most, as well. Then you could go to a restaurant after wards (dutch treat of course).
As far as a vacation well that I’m unsure of since I can’t even come up with one for myself and my fiancĂ©
You got together at 9, had your first child at 14? Am I understanding that correctly? (from a question you posted earlier.)

the court house or your county clerks office.. we got married by the county clerk it only cost us $20 for the marriage license And then $10 AT THE clerks office the day we got married then we had a cookout at a friends house with a bonfire.

I am an officiant and perform this type of ceremony often. I am in Florida and a lot of couples contact me, make family vacation arrangements at an affordable hotel with the children. We then set a time to out on the beach (which is free) we perform a ceremony and try to involve the children if they are old enough. They can act as witnesses, or we perform a family sand ceremony. All family members contribute to the Unity Container and it is a family keepsake as well! It is very affordable, and gives the entire family a nice ceremony and vacation all in one!
