Well me and my fiance are looking for a simple, cheap, wedding, no wedding dress, none of that dumb shit lol, small group of people, nothing fancy, we country folk lol jeans and nice shirt will be good, just wondering if anyone has any advice, or information regarding a public park wedding? any ideas? or tips? im in CT also
I dont wanna leave CT , there wont be a huge ceremony maybe just 10-15 people if that, no tent, no fancy stuff, just a simple, quick, justice of the peace type wedding.

Central Park! NYC is right around the corner!
This is Central Park’s official website. The Wagners Cove, Cherry Hill area is my personal favorite, but this site will give you an overview of the park. PBS had a special a while back too with David Hartman that gave a great over view of the park.
is my website
If you click on “Sample Ceremonies” there is even a Central Park Ceremony on the “Theme” page.
Wishing you both many healthy years of love and marriage, wisdom and wonder.

A lot of places require a permit for gathering in a public place, so please check that out first! A friend of mine decided not to get the permit, so they (and their guests) were in and out of the park in less than 30 minutes, so as not to pay the permit fee or get fined for not having the permit. Check the details at the park in question; a small group of 10 may not need a permit, but raise that to 15 and it might.
If, however, the site is remote enough, then it’s unlikely that the permit will be an issue, unless a park ranger happens to come along.
I had an outdoor (but traditional) wedding; I checked the average temperature/humidity/wind for the date of the wedding; I can’t remember the exact site, but these two are good:
Officiants may be pricey, unless you can get (or have) a friend ordained, even for the day. I also wouldn’t worry about amplifying the officient; if it’s a small wedding, everyone will hear. If the officient knows what they’re doing, they’ll be heard. If it’s windy and you do have a sound system in place, everything may be garbled for the audience! In my understanding (I may be wrong), the justice of the peace would require the ceremony to be at City Hall. (getting a friend ordained is probably the easiest and cheapest method).
Even if you want a simple wedding, you could find attire at a thrift store for a reasonable price (I once purchased an Armani tux for $15 as well as Barney’s shoes for $5). It really doesn’t have to be expensive, and you may want to be able to look back at the photos and not regret what might have been!
Good luck, and remember to have fun!

here are a few concerns of mine (b/c i, too, am thinking about having the ceremony at the park)
- rain/wind
- how will the officiant be heard?
- rent chairs (and possibly a tent)? – if they allow
contact your town hall and I’m sure they can give you the information you need
depending on which park – there will be a fee….central park in NY is about $400 and other parks in the NJ are are about $200
dont forget to get your officiant

sure – that’s a nice way to have a wedding. Contact your local parks and rec department and see if they have a “rental” policy – some of them will require a fee & may even let you hold a gazebo or something similar for your wedding. Have your friend take pics & stuff. Not everyone wants a big, white wedding – check out this site for ideas -
Good luck

Hi and congratulations!
Sounds fun! That is MY kind of wedding. Small and intimate.
Here is what I would suggest. Once you have found the park that you like, simply call the city office where that park is located to inquire about any fees and their policies on weddings. I’m sure they HAVE to allow weddings because they are public parks….but best to check first! Also, since you are having such a small gathering, I would not think that there would be any fee involved. But again…best to check.
One idea….I am all about jeans myself, but have you thought of dressing up a bit? Here is a site with lots of nice denim dresses, skirts, etc. It IS your wedding after all….just an idea. Here is the site:
Good luck!
